POS sales

Ring up walk-in sales, hold carts, review today’s tickets, and keep stock in sync (Starter+).

For Sellers · Sales

Percorso: Store → POS

Definizione

Store → POS → [Sale | Held | Today] → add lines → pay → complete

POS (Point of Sale) is in-store checkout: search or scan products, set qty, discount, take cash/card/other payment, and complete. Stock updates immediately. Completed tickets also show under Orders and Today.

Compatibility

  • Minimum plan: Starter+ with POS enabled on Billing.
  • Requires sellable products with prices (and stock when track quantity is on).
  • Lite catalog stores do not include POS — upgrade to Starter+.
  • Staff need POS / orders permission from the store owner.

Use POS for walk-in customers so inventory stays aligned with online stock. Use Orders for delivery fulfillment after online checkout.

Path & tabs

Store → POS
Sale — build cart, discount, customer, pay
  Held — resume parked carts
  Today — today’s POS tickets / totals
  line: { product|variant, qty, price }
pay: cash | card | other (as shown)

Search by name or exact SKU/barcode. Variants open a picker when a product has multiple options.

Behavior

  • Tracked products cannot sell more than available stock on the line.
  • Completing a sale creates an order/ticket and reduces sellable stock immediately.
  • Hold parks the cart so you can serve another customer and resume later.
  • Quick sale can ring a named amount without a catalog product when your process allows.
  • Today tab summarizes today’s POS sales count, totals, and average ticket.

Complete a walk-in sale

  1. Open Store → POS (Sale tab).
  2. Search or scan a product / SKU; pick a variant if required.
  3. Adjust quantity on each line; remove lines you do not need.
  4. Optionally set customer name/phone or pick an existing customer.
  5. Enter discount if offered; enter amount received for cash change when shown.
  6. Choose payment method and Complete / Charge.
  7. Confirm stock dropped under Inventory (and the ticket under Today / Orders).

Hold and resume a cart

  1. With items in the cart, use Hold (or park) to save the sale.
  2. Serve the next customer on a fresh Sale cart.
  3. Open the Held tab, select the parked cart, and resume.
  4. Complete payment as usual.

Query today’s POS sales

  1. Open Store → POS → Today.
  2. Review ticket count, sales total, and average.
  3. Open a ticket/order when you need line detail.
  4. For date ranges beyond today, use Store → Orders filters or Reports.

Examples

Example — barcode till: Scan SKU, qty 2, cash tendered, complete — stock −2.

Example — held cart: Customer steps away; Hold cart; sell to next shopper; resume held cart later.

Example — wrong qty before pay: Edit line qty or remove line before Complete (after complete, use Orders cancel/refund flows — do not “delete” posted sales).

Common errors

  • No POS menu — upgrade to Starter+ or enable POS / ask for permission.
  • Only N in stock — reduce qty or restock via Purchases / Inventory.
  • SKU not found — check product SKU/barcode or add the product first.
  • Stock wrong after POS — recheck the ticket in Today/Orders; adjust Inventory only if a true mismatch remains.
Nota: After-sale cancel / return / refund: Order operations. Formal books: Business Suite → Accounting. Commerce summaries: Reports / Analytics. POS = Point of Sale · SKU = Stock Keeping Unit.
