Banking
Create cash and bank/MFS accounts, deposit/withdraw/transfer, and reconcile statement lines (Growth+).
Business Suite · Finance
Caminho: Store → Banking
Definição
Store → Banking → accounts[] · deposit(cash→bank) · withdraw(bank→cash) · transfer · reconcile(statement)
Banking manages where money is held and how it moves between treasury accounts; Accounting records the matching double-entry journal. Treasury masters are cash, bank, and MFS (Mobile Financial Services) accounts linked to GL.
Compatibility
- Minimum plan: Growth+ with banking / treasury capability (Store → Billing).
- Prerequisite: Chart of Accounts (CoA) seeded/configured when the product prompts you.
- Create a cash treasury account before deposits (cash → bank/MFS) work correctly.
- Each active treasury account links to one cash/bank/mfs GL — duplicate active GL linkage is not allowed.
- Today in/out tiles exclude internal transfers and voided expense payments.
Setup order: seed CoA if prompted → add cash + bank/MFS accounts → link GL → then move money and reconcile.
Treasury mental model
Cash ──── Deposit ────→ Bank / MFS Cash ←─── Withdraw ─── Bank / MFS Bank ──── Transfer ───→ Bank / MFS
Deposit / Withdraw / Transfer = treasury-to-treasury movement — not a customer sale or expense by themselves.
Banking shows which Cash/Bank/MFS holds the money; Accounting stores the double-entry journal for that movement.
Path & fields
Store → Banking
account: { name, type: cash|bank|mfs, glAccountId, openingBalance? }
deposit: cash → bank/MFS
withdraw: bank/MFS → cash
transfer: treasury ↔ treasury
recon: { statementDate, statementBalance, clearedJournalIds[] } Live dashboard tiles read GL balances for cash / bank / MFS / total.
BonikBiz product rule: opening balance > 0 posts Dr treasury GL / Cr capital (equity). After that post, change opening via a banking adjustment — not by editing the opening field again.
Accounting effect
Deposit Cash → Bank/MFS Dr Bank/MFS · Cr Cash Withdraw Bank/MFS → Cash Dr Cash · Cr Bank/MFS Transfer Treasury → Treasury Dr Destination · Cr Source Recon match statement clearing only (no new business txn)
Deposit and withdraw require both sides (source and destination).
Internal transfers do not count as “today in/out” customer or expense flows.
Set up treasury accounts
- Open Store → Banking (Growth+).
- Seed chart of accounts if the UI prompts you.
- Add at least one cash account and one bank or MFS account.
- Link each account to the matching cash/bank/mfs GL (one active GL link per treasury master).
- Enter opening balance if needed, then save.
- Confirm dashboard tiles show live balances.
Deposit, withdraw, and transfer
- Deposit (cash → bank/MFS): choose Deposit — from cash, to bank/MFS, amount, date — confirm both sides.
- Withdraw (bank/MFS → cash): choose Withdraw — from bank/MFS, to cash.
- Transfer (treasury ↔ treasury): choose Transfer between bank/MFS/cash masters (e.g. Bank → MFS funding).
- Verify the journal posted and balances updated on both accounts.
Reconcile a bank statement
1. Create reconciliation (statement date + statement balance) 2. Open Statement lines 3. Load journals for that bank GL 4. Clear (tick) lines that appear on the statement 5. Complete when cleared lines explain the statement 6. Force-complete only after review if variance remains
Reconciliation matches existing book journals to the statement — it does not create a new business transaction by itself.
A journal already cleared on a completed reconciliation is not offered again for that bank account.
Force-complete only finishes the recon status; it does not fix the real statement-vs-book difference. Investigate the variance first.
Examples
End of day Deposit shop cash → main bank → cash down, bank up MFS funding (e.g. bKash wallet) Create MFS treasury linked to MFS GL → Bank → MFS transfer (merchant wallet funding — not customer recharge) Month recon Statement balance 125,000 → clear matching journals until difference is 0 → Complete
Common errors
- Deposit looks wrong — create a cash treasury account first.
- Cannot complete recon — clear the statement lines that appear on the bank statement (or resolve variance before force-complete).
- Balances disagree with Accounting — check voided journals and the correct GL link.
- Cannot link GL — another active treasury already uses that GL account.
- No Banking menu — Growth+ and banking permission required.
